Kappa Tracks

"A story is made up of words and characters. Are the words well chosen and do the characters live? All the rest is literary gossip."

My six decade love affair with the English language compels me to offer a list of authors whose work meets my critical standards. The single criterion operant is the quality of the prose as composed by the writers. I have made no discrimination whatsoever as to subject matter, theme, or plot.

Therefore be warned!

A great many of the works here listed may involve themes or subjects repugnant to some readers. I can only advise that if a particular story cannot be stomached, go on to the next; you will find at least a few to be to your taste.

synopsis !!?

wandering around the SS place-
there's a section "Lost and Found"--
T-fen recalling stories read in past,
but author and title forgotten--
asking for help from fellow fen
in finding that particular story once more...
****
Do you suppose that this 'trax'
thing might accomodate/provide
a source of info for those seekers?
*************
n.b. Would require a monumental
re-search of the T ff....gah!
**************
But I'll give it some thought...
would possibly allow this retired
librarian to make a useful contribution
to the CAUSE...
hmmmm.....
(Do know that a good many of those
3x5 cards already contain the basic
details of some stories)

excursus

y'no, I really intended this 'blog' thing to be nothing
more than a way of keeping a list of those
T-stories that I most enjoyed, relished, appreciated, &
maybe wanted to read more than once--
just a very impersonal means of keeping track(sic)
******************
so why has it turned into a pseudo 'Live Journal'
diary, MySpace kind of 'THING' ??
******************
i dunno--& i'm not sure i should let
it go on as such...
*********************
the compulsion to yak at one's fellow humans
is a very human trait...take it from the anthropology
major-it's very human: us higher apes have been
chattering at each other for a couple million years!
********************
having fulminated in a vacuum for
almost two decades..
******************
decided this morning; will let it go on
for a while longer--may get disgusted with the
whole thing and "dele"
all but the truly bibliographical-
even the 'critic' notes-
wherein I get so enthralled
by the work of a particular
writer that I can't help but wax
enthusiastic..(we'll see)
