Dear me... It has been a while....
...but I've been working up to one of those....RANTS!!!
**********************
Gratified as I am to note that the T-fen composing fanfiction have
begun to realize the 'endangered' status of the species..
(Pseudemys scripta elegans; var:mutans)
Some of the proposed solutions border on the bizarre!
All quite acceptable, of course, as long as the quality of the prose
composition retains the level required by this Kappa.
One of those solutions, however, ventures into that
social science of which I can claim some familiarity.
My major course of study(4 yrs) was ANTHROPOLOGY.
Therefore, I take as my text the anthropologist's definition of
CULTURE--from Kroeber:
(culture is) "...the mass of learned and transmitted motor
reactions, habits, techniques, ideas and values--and the
behavior they induce..."
&&&&&&&&&&
So you can understand why I have become profoundly
irritated by a couple of recently posted stories which
solve the problem by proposing the theme of:
"...one of us is female..."
and then relegating that individual to the household chores,
forbidding any further practice of the martial arts.
(Not to mention the disarming-taking away weaponry..
.." you might hurt yourself..." & leading the way to
the kitchen to learn the joys of cooking--oy vey!)
&&&&&&&&&&&&
Children!!!
That one's genetic makeup includes the double X factor
does not, I repeat NOT, predispose one to an innate or inborn
interest in knitting, sewing, cooking & house cleaning!!!
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
These are learned behaviors, culturally imposed by
the 'norms' of the culture/society into which one may
have the misfortune to be born.
***************************
There may be more on this topic later..
(you have been warned!)
btw:the minute one discovers that one is female...
& altho' one has been living as a male for almost two
decades---does one immediately develop a consuming
interest in the contents of those periodicals described
as "women's magazines"????
(Hayseuss-Kahrah-ho)

More on 10-17-08:
Emit loud long scream of joy for the
incomparable G-cat's "Lio"(10-08)
Every nuance of mpreg, all the possibles--
and the impossibles, improbables & cultural
anomalies were covered by a short, sweet(very)
little piece of lovely prose.
Every thing that needed to be said abt.
that theme ("one of us is female") was
mentioned, dealt with and dismissed...
at least I can hope it was(?) dismissed
addendum-10-18.. what I'm trying to get
you people to understand is that Biology
is not Destiny...gender roles are imposed by the
culture surrounding the individual
and are not genetically inherent..
(there'll be more as I put together the
phrases/words relevant to the concepts
you need to grasp)
