Kappa Tracks

"A story is made up of words and characters. Are the words well chosen and do the characters live? All the rest is literary gossip."

My six decade love affair with the English language compels me to offer a list of authors whose work meets my critical standards. The single criterion operant is the quality of the prose as composed by the writers. I have made no discrimination whatsoever as to subject matter, theme, or plot.

Therefore be warned!

A great many of the works here listed may involve themes or subjects repugnant to some readers. I can only advise that if a particular story cannot be stomached, go on to the next; you will find at least a few to be to your taste.

Akuma(10-05)
Suddenly recognizing just who was supporting my body with his own,
I slumped ag
ainst his plastron, my head lolling against his neck
as he whispered something that I could not make out
through the roaring in my ears.

****
Appellation(8-05)
Taking care of them was difficult,
and loving them came with the possibility of future pain,
but he found he could no longer envision life without them.

*****
Codes(4-05)
It was all a lie, of course. Every hesitation,
every frustrated sigh and every misplaced
line of coding was all merely part of a complex trap.

*****
Fade:ch.21-9-9-10
"The elevator doors hadn’t seen maintenance in months,
and their sudden
sliding squeals
chewed through my nightmares like a hacksaw.
"
9-9-10:it's been a looong wait..but D. has added to
this incomparable(Kappa fave)tale & promises
more to come....
******
Kill It(5-07)
“So that’s the diagnosis, eh?
The brainiac is depressed.”

******
Nightmare Memories(3-05)
And then there was a whisper of movement behind them,
and the screaming really began.

******
Patterns(1-06)
....then the selfishness within my own heart
was a staggering and frightful thing.
Even worse than that...
was the knowledge that
the grim future I had seen could still come to pass.

*********
Quietus(7-07)
the 'Green Man' story!
**********
Truth(9-06)
To my beloved April,

for all the nights.

*********
Don't Ever Do That Again(7-07)
The brainy turtle shook his head with an air of long suffering.
“It must be a macho thing.”

*************
n.b., the story "Fade" cannot be too highly recommended--
a masterful tale, well told by a master story-teller.
*************
Rhythms(2-08)
